How to manually send a LinkedIn account update request to employees

SocialWeaver automatically sends employees a request to update their LinkedIn account two weeks before their current token expires. This keeps their account connected and ensures uninterrupted advocacy participation.

That said, there are times when you might want to manually trigger an update request. For example, when you’re:

  • Encouraging employees to switch from manual to automatic engagement mode
  • Preparing to launch a new advocacy program or campaign
  • Noticing that some employees haven't reconnected yet and you'd like to prompt them

Manually requesting a LinkedIn account update refreshes the employee’s token for another 12 months and helps ensure they continue to receive content notifications as expected.

Steps to send a LinkedIn update request

  1. Sign in to your SocialWeaver account
  2. From the left-hand navigation, go to Settings
  3. Under the Workspace section of the Settings navigation, click on Employees
  4. Select one or more employees you'd like to message
  5. Click on Message Employees at the top of the employee table
  6. In the message field, enter a short note such as: "Please update your LinkedIn account in preparation for the new advocacy campaign."
  7. Select the preferred Channel (Microsoft Teams or Slack)
  8. From the Action dropdown, choose Reconnect LinkedIn account
  9. Click Send Message

The selected employees will receive your message via the selected channel, along with a prompt to reconnect their LinkedIn account. Here's what the notification will look like on Microsoft Teams:

And on Slack, it'll look something like this:

How to confirm the token was renewed

Once an employee reconnects their account, you’ll see a solid green circular token meter next to their name on the Employees page. Hover over the icon to confirm the token is valid for another year.

This ensures their LinkedIn account stays connected and ready for the next round of engagement.
