How to reauthorize your social channels

When you link your social media accounts to SocialWeaver, an access token is generated. This unique code, provided by the respective platform's API (Application Programming Interface), grants SocialWeaver permission to interact with your social media profiles without needing your login credentials every time.

Access tokens are vital as they enable SocialWeaver to carry out various actions on your behalf, such as posting updates, liking, sharing, and commenting on content. Without these tokens, SocialWeaver wouldn't have the necessary permissions to interact with your social media accounts.

Tokens usually expire after one year. When this occurs, a renewal is needed to ensure SocialWeaver continues to have access to your social media accounts.

How to renew your channel token

1. Sign in to your SocialWeaver account.

2. Click on your profile picture at the bottom left of the screen to open up the user menu, then click on Settings.

Click on your profile picture at the bottom left of the screen to open up the user menu.

3. On the settings page, click Channels from the left-hand menu under the Workspace heading.

4. Choose the channel you wish to reauthorize. If the token has already expired, click on the Reauthorize button. If you want to refresh the access token regardless, select Reauthorize from the channel menu.

💡
By renewing your token through channel reauthorization, you also refresh associated channel information, including elements like the thumbnail, follower count, and other relevant details.

Here's what your channel will look like if the token has already expired:

Channels with expired tokens are shown with a red exclamation mark.

If the token is still valid, your selected channel view will look something like this:

Click on Reauthorize from the channel menu to request a new token and refresh your channel info.

Maintaining up-to-date tokens helps avoid unnecessary interruptions, ensuring a seamless social media management experience.
